The future is electric
On the road with the new flagship. Elegant, almost silent and with zero local emissions in towns and cities, powerful and dynamic outside. When the battery is sufficiently charged, you always start in all-electric E-MODE up to a speed of 135 km/h. The interaction of the combustion engine and electric drive is optimised in Hybrid mode, particularly when route guidance is active.

The kickdown function always activates the V6 turbocharged engine. This is then additionally boosted by fully electric power. Maximum system power of 340 kW (462 PS) plus maximum system torque of 700 Nm equals maximum driving dynamics.

Most powerful Volkswagen of all time*
eHybrid drive is the heart of the new Touareg R. A V6 turbocharged engine, an electric drive motor and a lithium-ion battery, with a net energy content of 14.3 kWh integrated in the luggage compartment underbody, all combine to deliver a thrillling drive experience . Power transmission is performed by an 8-speed automatic gearbox with Tiptronic. The standard 4MOTION all-wheel drive system ensures the best possible contact between the car and the road. The 4MOTION Active Control allows different drivers to individually control the driving profile selection and to quickly change between profiles.

Exterior
The new face of performance
A shining and unmistakably distinctive appearance – the exterior Lapiz Blue colour stands for Volkswagen R. The newly designed bumpers and elegant black elements, such as the radiator grille, air intakes, trim strips and exterior mirror housings, signal sportiness. Even the design trim strips on the front wings and the doors underline the sporty ambitions. The R logo in the radiator grille and on the boot lid ensure that the most powerful Volkswagen of all time is unmistakable.

Best in black
A sporty wheel range completes the R look: the Touareg R is equipped as standard with burnished 20-inch Braga alloy wheels in black or grey. The 21-inch Suzuka alloy wheels are optionally available with a black or grey burnished finish. The 22-inch Estoril alloy wheels in 5-Y spoke design in black are a special highlight as an option designed exclusively for the Touareg R.
Interior
Sporty atmosphere
Give the Touareg R more personality. Choose your preferred background lighting from 30 different colours to immerse the interior in a customised light atmosphere – for example with illuminated blue light edges on the instruments, centre console and doors for a particularly sporty look. Another highlight is the optionally available Puglia natural leather tanned with olive leaf extract. The elegant details include sporty diamond stitching on the seats and door trims, and Sepang Blue piping in the seat cushion bolsters. The interior is equipped, as standard, with aluminium Silver Wave decorative trim and ergo-Comfort seats upholstered in Vienna leather with grey decorative stitching.

Sporty appearance without dazzling
Whether you are out and about in town, on a country road in the evening or on the motorway in poor weather: the optional IQ.LIGHT – LED matrix headlights adapt the intensity and luminous range of the LED segments to the changing traffic situations. Thanks to Dynamic Light Assist, other road users are not dazzled even when the main beam is active. Roads are illuminated better, and disturbing glare caused by light reflected from road signs is eliminated. And your Touareg R has an especially shining appearance in the truest sense.
Innovision Cockpit
Control centre without switches
The digital instrument cluster forms a curved glass surface together with the Infotainment system screen: the standard Innovision Cockpit. Equipped with a 31.2 cm digital cockpit and the 38.1 cm touchscreen, the Infotainment system can be operated with maximum convenience.

Controlling performance
You always have the Touareg R perfectly under control with the latest generation of the sports multifunction steering wheel in perforated leather. The steering wheel provides control thanks to touch operation, paddles and buttons for the optional Travel Assist system. The steering wheel heating offers added comfort.
