The BMW R 1250 boxer models are at the heart of the BMW Motorrad brand experience. The legendary reputation of the drive concept has been strengthened once again with the presentation of the incomparable BMW ShiftCam engine.

When defining new product substance, we always follow the principle of refining the concept-defining properties further while driving forward the differentiation of the model.

In this way, we are meeting our customers' increasing need for individualisation and are also ensuring important moments of surprise for the next model update. New paintwork and additional optional equipment keep both motorcycles fresh and relevant in the third life cycle. The single seater in particular contributes to the sporty features of the R and RS and thus sharpens the focus on the dynamic side of our multi-talented vehicles.
We have given the model revisions new product substance, which is in demand by customers and markets and does justice to our aim of innovation leadership. We hope you enjoy reading this concept and wish you every success with the market launch of the model updates.

Efficient riding: The boxer engine with BMW ShiftCam technology is characterised by high efficiency, while at the same time perfectly reconciling the contrasts of superior engine running and performance requirements. Two different intake camshaft profiles (one consumption-optimised and the other performance-optimised) allow the balancing act between impressive running smoothness, maximum efficiency and inspiring torque development.
With the new standard ECO riding mode it is possible to primarily use the innovative BMW ShiftCam engine technology in order to achieve the maximum range with one tank of fuel.
In ECO mode, the rider is encouraged to ride as fuel-efficiently as possible with a
soft throttle curve and moderate engine torque limitation.
To visually support the consumption-optimised riding style, there is an efficiency
indicator in the upper status line of the TFT colour display in ECO mode. If you want maximum performance, for example for overtaking when carrying a heavy load or travelling uphill, you can switch to another riding mode quickly and easily using the riding mode button.

SEAT HEATING

Optimised suitability for touring With the second model revision of the R 1250 R and R 1250 RS, seat heating for the rider and passenger is now also available for the road-orientated bikes. In constant demand from customers and markets, seat heating offers a significant increase in comfort at low outside temperatures, especially on long tours.

• The optional seat heating is available in combination with 2
individual seats

• The seat heating is only offered in combination with heated grips

• A new operating concept has been developed for the rider's seat heating (2 different seat heights, 5 heating stages), the settings of the grip heating (in combination with the seat heating, 5 instead of 2 heating stages) are simultaneously operated via a menu

• The passenger seat heating is operated by a toggle switch with 2 heating stages, and is located at the bottom right of the seat pan

See and be seen better When it comes to lights, the standard equipment of the R 1250 R and RS also sets standards, both visually and in terms of safety:

• redesigned LED turn indicators (also for US types)

• the iconic daytime riding light*

• K53 only: a new, striking LED main headlight with optimised low-beam and high-beam headlights ensure a distinctive and dynamic appearance from every perspective.

* Not permitted in all countries; without the daytime riding lights function, the light icon is designed as a position light.

Even more sporty
In order to underline the sporty ambitions of both motorcycles, the optional equipment 31 C single seater is available as a new offer. With this equipment, the passenger seat is replaced by a painted plastic cover. The rear footrests and grab handles are also removed, making the rear lighter and more dynamic in appearance.
The 31C single seater is included as standard in certain model variants: - R 1250 R: Style Sport and Style Triple Black - R 1250 RS: Style Sport.
